The Trail to Love Wins an Award

You know how some days start out ordinary, nothing new, nothing different? That's how my day started. I went to my daughter's to stay with my grands until I had to get them to school. I came home, ate breakfast, made my bed - yeah - yawn. I'd planned on working on my next book, "Love With a Side of Crazy all day. Then I opened my emails, my world rocked. A few months ago I had entered "The Trail to Love" in the IDA (International Digital Awards) contest. It's sponsored by the Oklahoma Romance Writers of America. I had pretty much forgotten about it, until this morning. Here's the email that greeted me: " Hello…I am writing to inform you that The Trail to Love, has placed FIRST in the Histori

Missing Alaska - Chandler County Begins

Today starts the release of the second round of the Chandler County books. I'm excited to start it off with Missing Alaska by Cherime MacFarlane. Along with learning about the book, you get to know Cherime to and why she chose her title. Kentucky holds a surprise for a young Native Alaskan man on the run, a young girl with a desperate need to get far from Chandler County. Russell is running from the mess he made in Alaska during Thanksgiving. By allowing his resentment of his mother and step-father’s living arrangement to motivate him, he hurt both his mother and step-sister’s feelings. A road trip far from Alaska seemed like the cure. But Kentucky holds a surprise for Russ. Gentry is the yo

Deadwood Reads - A Great Event

This post was on the first page of my website. Since I changed it to promote The Chandler County books, I decided I needed to put this trip in a blog. On June 7th, Cheryl Yeko, author and editor at Soul Mate Publishing, and I made a road trip to Deadwood, South Dakota for the Wild Deadwood Reads Author/Reader event. This was the first year for this event, but you’d never know from the fantastic way it was organized. 1880s train ride, trip to Mount Rushmore, a rodeo, ghost tours, bar crawls, and the best part – meeting authors and readers!! The organizers are already hard at work planning for next year. One on of the things I'll be participating in is an anthology. All the stories will b

More of the Writer's Police Academy

I can't believe it's been a month since I posted about the first day of the Writer's Police Academy. Where did the time go? I'm going to finish up about the Academy so I can devote the next few weeks to the releases for the Chandler County Series. Make sure to hover over the picture for information about the picture. Friday morning, we were picked up bright and early to head to the Fox Valley Technical School. As we stood outside waiting, sirens screamed. A car raced into the parking lot, followed by firs one police car, then another. An ambulance arrived a short time later. We were given a demonstration on how police handle a car chase, stop, and officer down. We learned how they protect ea
